Curls, colour and volume: 2018 hair trends…

The weather may feel like we’re in the depths of winter, but March signals the official start of spring!

A new season brings with it new trends, so we spoke to Phil Murkin –  Reflections Technical Director and Wella Master Colour Expert at Reflections Bradley Stoke, in the Willow Brook Centre. He’s given us the low down on what will be the key looks for spring/summer 2018…

Colour:  The Pantone Colour of the Year for 2018 is Ultra Violet and we think purple is going to be big in hair too. We also have a fantastic range of Wella ColorFreshCreate rainbow colours that allows us to create some really stunning results for clients.

XXL Curls:  With many ‘70s trends remaining popular, it’s no surprise that big, messy curls are on trend this year. Quite often seen on runways and catwalks, some people may be put off recreating the style at home but we recommend using Moroccanoil Curl Define Cream to help you achieve the look.

Volume: If you don’t feel like curls but still want to achieve the vibe, then big, bouncy, voluminous hair – the bigger the better – is the way to go. We use System Professional Volume Range to help our clients get the look both in the salon and at home.

Side sweeping fringes: Cosmopolitan magazine calls side swept fringes the style that suits every haircut as it gives the illusion of thicker hair and perfectly frames the face. Side sweeping fringes can be seen on the Duchess of Cambridge, Emma Stone and Rihanna so you’ll be in good company with this trend.

Accessories – whether you choose head scarves, head bands or clips, this is a trend you can really have fun with.
